Love Milo mugs and Arcade Fire

This is a flashback to 2011 I think, I’ve had a version of this post sitting in my draft box for that long. I know, I know! The previous version went into details describing the then BF, so I just nixed the irrelevant bits.

So after my dose of trawling the blog-o-sphere (in 2011), I came across the branch ceramics by LoveMilo designs and a set of the branch mugs now sit on a floating shelf in my kitchen.

It seems that at that exact moment the then bf stumbled across a Google Arcade Fire collaboration to make an interactive music video for ‘We used to wait’. http://www.thewildernessdowntown.com/ And when I sent him the ILoveMilo link, he was like that’s so weird you wouldn’t believe it. A lot of the design aspects of the interactive video use the same design themes in love milo. This is the trailer of the wilderness downtown project, note the similarity of the name font style and the branch design.

So now I think of We used to wait every time I have a cup of tea in one of the mugs. Is it strange that some of my kitchenware has a soundtrack?

Love.Milo mugs

Processed with VSCOcam with b1 presetThe Love Milo ceramic designs that appeal to me most are of course the branch, then the bird and ant designs. The mugs are made beautifully in South Africa  with delicate designs are dishwasher, microwave and eco- friendly.  Eco-friendly in the sense that they use eco-friendly ink. The mugs I have are smaller than a usual mug, which is the perfect size for someone like me who can’t ever finish a mug of tea before it gets cold.

You can buy a mug and wood saucer set for R450 and makes for a great gift to a friend who appreciates ceramics. Next on my list is a milk jug and I’m coveting the new minerals collection that I’ve seen on their Instagram feed, see it here, it has a combination of gold and a turquoise mineral design.

Love Milo’s range includes Wood, the cutest love birds, Fabric and Lighting.

Here’s to finishing cups of tea and clearing out the drafts folder!
